How to Buy Foreign Currency

• We operate under Reserve Bank of Malawi regulations (max US$500 per day for some purposes, higher with documentation).
• Up to US$2,000 or equivalent: Valid Malawian passport + proof of travel (air/bus ticket or vehicle clearance).
• Foreign nationals: Valid passport + residential/business/employment permit + travel documents.
• Returning visitors: Bring proof of previous forex sale (receipt or ATM slip).
• Minors (under 18): Must be accompanied by a guardian.

How to Sell Foreign Currency

• No minimum amount or limit on selling USD, GBP, EUR or ZAR.
• For amounts above US$1,000 equivalent: Bring National ID or Passport.

Who Can Access Our Services?

Any customer can send and receive money and use all Forex Bureau services — you do not need an NBS Bank account.

From Outside Malawi (Diaspora / Remittances)

• Supported through our international partners (Western Union, Mukuru, etc.)
• Meet identification requirements of the sending partner

Within Malawi

• Walk-in customers and NBS Bank customers welcome
• Valid ID required: National ID or Passport (plus travel documents for cash purchases)
